Salary is £25,000 – £35,000 depending on experience

Role Purpose:

We’re looking for a Developer at effect to design and implement attractive and functional websites for our clients. You will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development including the implementation of bespoke WordPress themes and plugins as well as site integration and security updates.

As a successful candidate, you should have in-depth knowledge of front-end programming languages, a good eye for aesthetics, and strong content management skills. Ultimately, a top-class front-end developer can create attractive, user-friendly websites that perfectly meet the design and functionality specifications of the client.

Skills we’re looking for:

Required

  • Knowledge and experience of object-orientated programming
  • Experience working with MySQL
  • Knowledge of Headless system architecture, and consuming secure APIs
  • Essentials – HTML5, CSS3, SASS (SCSS) and BEM
  • Knowledge and use of front-end frameworks such as Tailwind or Bootstrap
  • Knowledge and use of Javascript frameworks such as Vue or React.
  • Good knowledge and ability to produce well-structured standards-compliant Javascript (ES6)

General

  • Ability to manage projects, with support
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies and how to work within one
  • Knowledge of WCAG Accessibility standards
  • Generating WordPress themes and plugins from scratch
  • Strong experience with Version Control (Git)
  • Experience using package/dependency management such as NPM/Yarn & Composer
  • Clean and well-documented code is essential (PSR12)
  • Knowledge and experience with Webpack and other build processes such as Laravel Mix
  • Good communication skills and working with other departments
  • Conducting website performance & security tests

Desirable:

  • Server Administration experience / Basic Web server maintenance (NGINX, PHP-FPM, Redis)
  • Experience with Docker/Containerisation
  • Experience with a range of AWS services
  • Experience with Themosis (WordPress) Framework
  • Experience with deployment utilities such as Laravel Forge & Envoyer
  • Framework-agnostic approach to development – Utilising the right technologies or framework for the project/functionality
